Sheppard Scores Opening Day All-Star Victory At Brewerton
Brewerton, NY — July 15, 2010 – By Tom Skibinski, Super DIRTcar Series PR Director
Opening day in the 2nd Annual DIRTcar All-Star Weekend speedfest at Brewerton Speedway produced a fitting finish with the winningest Big-Block Modified drivers on the circuit this season crossing the line 1-2.
‘Super Matt’ Sheppard charged past pole-sitter Jimmy Phelps on a lap 11 restart, then held off the ‘B’Ville Blizzard’ to score his Super DIRTcar Series-high third win of 2010 in the headline Longhorn Trucking 50 at the D-Shaped Dirt Demon.
“This is a big weekend for us and its already starting out great,” beamed Sheppard, who just turned 28 on Monday, after scoring his division-best 11th feature win of the season and his fourth of the year at Brewerton. “This is the way you want to start it out, hopefully it ends the same way too.”

Sheppard Cops Florida DCN Finale, Captures Big-Block Points Title
Matt Sheppard closed out his visit to Volusia Speedway Park last February with a pair of Top-3 feature finishes and some added confidence for the 20-hour trip home.

Sheppard Scores 1st Florida Win At Volusia

Matt Sheppard picked up where he left off on the 2009 Super DIRTcar Series, authoring a late race charge to score his first victory of the new decade in convincing fashion Thursday night in the 39th Annual Florida DIRTcar Nationals By University of Northwestern Ohio at Volusia Speedway Park.
The winningest DIRTcar Big-Block Modified driver in the Northeast last season also captured his first career feature win in the Sunshine State, establishing the second-generation standout from Waterloo, N.Y. as an early favorite to capture the overall Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Championship come autumn.
“It seems I’ve finished in just about every position but first here, so I finally accomplished that and now we can go for number two tomorrow,” remarked a confident Sheppard, 27, winner of 20 Big-Block main events in ’09, and already in prime position to carry the momentum back up north. “I think we’ve got the car to get the job done.”

Sheppard Triumphs In 38th Rite Aid 200 At Syracuse

Already a Super DIRT Week champion in the 358-Modified and Sportsman ranks, Matt Sheppard mastered the Moody Mile once again on Sunday afternoon, taking advantage of a soft tire by leader Jimmy Phelps with 10 laps to go to score the biggest victory of his career in the Rite Aid 200 Presented By Ferris & Snapper Mowers for Big-Block Modifieds.
The hottest driver on the DIRTcar Northeast in 2009, Sheppard’s 20th Big-Block victory was his 20th of the season and worth $50,000 for the talented 27 year-old from Waterloo, New York. read more...
